Overview

WES PDA is a J2ME application that is deployed on PDA devices and directly accesses Web Enterprise Suite portal services to support and enable the delivery of these services to the handheld devices. In addition to providing access to portal services via the PDA, the PDA is enabled to provide sensor information, such as video and documents, to the portal. Objects may be tracked and displayed in Web clients using WES component MOTS.

Like the WES Map Viewer, WES PDA contains many features for both novice and expert users and is formatted in the same manner. WES PDA tabular functionality includes the following:

• A search and discover tab/wizard is provided to lead users through the process of information discovery and access.
  
  
• A map viewer tab for viewing the current map.
  
  
• A pre-defined map tab for easy access to previously created maps represented as OGC context documents.
  
  
• a publish tab to provide users with the ability to publish video, images and documents to the portal.
  
  
• a "My Portal" tab for accessing user profile information and product orders

WES PDA is a component of Compusult’s Web Enterprise Suite; a set of Internet-based applications and toolkits that support Web mapping, information cataloging, discovery, retrieval and delivery services.

WES PDA is also a contributor to the Open Geospatial Consortium Catalogue Services Interoperability initiative.
