Space Imaging required an interactive WWW-based application (CARTERRA Online)
to address the needs associated with users of remotely-sensed data accessing
and ordering Space Imaging products and services. Space Imaging is committed
to providing its customers and resellers worldwide with the best quality data
and services, based on access to a broad set of international data and ground
station archives.
The CARTERRA Online application was developed and implemented using a suite
of Internet-based applications and toolkits, which support information cataloging,
discovery, retrieval and delivery services. The online application was integrated
into Space Imaging’s existing catalog and product management facilities.
The following Compusult Web Enterprise Suite components were deployed during
the integration process:
Percipio - A commercial data warehouse product especially suited to the needs
of organizations for receiving, archiving, cataloging, maintaining and disseminating
data holdings over intranets and wide area networks such as the Internet.
Percipio is built upon the Oracle RDBMS.
PHTML - The Parsed-HTML engine (PHTML) is a middle-tier product used for
the creation and manipulation of catalog-based WWW browse forms. It is a language
that provides a rich set of facilities for developers to create custom HTML
documents that access the Percipio Data Warehouse.
Meta Manager - Meta Manager provides the necessary linkages that enable data
suppliers and custodians to connect their on-line catalogs to clearinghouses
for searching and data product discovery.
Map Manager - An integrated toolkit that provides easy Internet/WAN publishing
of map and database collections within an IMS environment. Map Manager provides
linkages directly into Percipio. The IMS can be used to browse data and data
products and place orders for these products within the Internet Map Browser
window. Map Manager supports standard browsers in basic HTML and Java versions.
Users can specify the browser presentation format, based upon connectivity
and desktop processing capabilities.
Compusult also integrated the CARTERRA Online application with CyberCash
CashRegister software to allow secure electronic transfer of funds to Space
Imaging from its customers.
