Career Development and AT Skills: Carrying AT Skills into Daily Lives
Some individuals must use AT for any computer access, but students and employees who use writing support software such as Kurzweil 3000 are not required to use these tools at home or during their leisure time. Students often do not consider the value of these programs as they start looking for work and are required to write résumés and cover letters. This course is geared towards career development to help users maintain their writing skills outside of situations where writing is mandatory. The goal is to have participants use AT whenever possible to allow them to be more independent and to develop more awareness of career development skills. This session is beneficial to those with minimal experience using the chosen program, as it covers both basic and advanced functions.
AT software that may be covered in this course: Kurzweil 3000, Spark Space, Inspiration, WordQ Speak Q and Read and Write Gold.
Note: The activities in this course require that all participants have access to individual copies of the software. If you are a non-profit organization with several clients who could benefit from this session, consider contacting local schools or computer access programs in your community who would have the facilities and software for participants who don’t their own laptops or individual program licenses.
This three hour course is based on the regular half day pricing. For more than 10 participants, call us to negotiate a flat fee.
